Newcastle University is a founding member of the prestigious Russell Group of 24 public research universities in the UK. The Institute of Health and Society (IHS) is part of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, and focuses on applied epidemiology research, decision making and organisation of care, life-course, development and ageing, and public health involvement. The IHS has been at the forefront of radiation epidemiology studies in the UK.
Newcastle University is co-leader of the WP3, devoted to building the cohort of paediatric patients treated by cardiac catheterization. It is involved in reconstruction of doses for the patients involved in the cohort.
