Children born with heart defects often undergo a series of tests and treatments, known as cardiac fluoroscopy procedures, which involve the use of ionizing radiation (X-rays). While these procedures are critical to the survival of patients, we know that children are particularly sensitive to the side effects of radiation. It is therefore very important to better understand the possible long-term health effects of these fluoroscopy procedures.

What is this study for?
Our aim is to investigate the long-term health effects of exposing young cardiac patients to X-rays used for cardiac fluoroscopy procedures. The results of this study will help us optimise treatments in these young patients, reduce the risk of late toxic effects, and improve their quality of life.
